Middle School Music for Vocalists & Non-Performers

Oakville Middle School / Jr. High is one of 3 Middle schools in the  Mehlville school district, a K – 12  public school corporation in South County St. Louis, MO.  Presently, the music electives offered at the school are Select 7^th Grade and 8^th Grade Choirs, Mixed General choir (non-auditioned) Music Explo (a semester class), Honor Band, Intermediate Band, and Beginning Band. All classes are year-long electives.  Mrs. Peggy Leon has taught elementary music & Middle school choir music for 26 years.  For 21 years, she served as a traveling music teacher, most of time pushing a cart room to room in many different buildings in the district.  Mrs. Leon’s Choirs have consistantly earned High ratings in local evaluations and Six Flags competitions.  Her Concert Choir was selected in 2000-2001 as one of the “Top Middle School Choirs in the State of Missouri” & performed at the State Music Educators Convention.   Mrs. Leon also performs around St Louis as J.S. BACH & recently as MOZART  in the  St. Louis Symphony Camp for Kids.  Mrs. Leon was Mehlville’s TEACHER of the YEAR in 2001-2202.
